Beauty in the Cave

You’ve heard it said before that caves are a place of hiding oftentimes in fear. BUT there is another purpose. I am here to tell you that there is BEAUTY IN THE CAVE.

It’s story time, Fabs. Grab your coffee and follow along!

Here I was in a season of what felt much like a cave-like experience and God met me right where I was and reminded me that I was right where He wanted me and that there is beauty in the cave.

It was the summer and my family traveled to San Antonio for a family reunion. We were staying for a week for some much needed relaxation time at the resort with my parents. I found a tour of the Natural Bridge Caverns and later began to understand why.

Immediately as we entered the caverns, I heard God say, “there is beauty in the cave.”

The tour guide informed us not to touch the walls due to the corrosion of the crystalized earth from germs. I learned how the earth crystallizes forming beautiful works of art as I listened to him speak of the formation of the earth as water flows through the cave. I stood in awe of God’s providential nature and care.

Remember, I said that God reminded me that I was right where He wanted me. I needed to be in the cave because there is PRESERVATION and FORMATION in the cave.

Beauty in the Cave

Preservation + Formation

I was reminded of David as he was in a transition place awaiting the time that he would be king and how the cave was a place of preservation of his life and the forming of the man that would one day walk out his kingship.

In this place where you feel stuck, this place of uncomfortability and stretchability,  I say to you that you are being preserved for a reason. You are being formed in this season. The earth of your heart is being crystalized to shine as a woman, a man after God’s own heart. It is imperative that outside corrosion of other people opinions doesn’t contaminate what God is doing in you. Embrace this place, lean into it, and walk out of the cave transformed.

When the caterpillar is in transition and is being taken to its next level, it goes into a cocoon. During this time of what may seem like hiding it is being preserved and formed into something beautiful. It’s in the chrysalis stage that metamorphosis occurs. The cocoon is likened to the cave, to your transition. In this place you must allow yourself to be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Believe in who God is, Jesus is, for from Him and through Him and to Him are all things [Romans 11:36] Believe who God says that YOU are. It’s in your DNA. The cave is cultivation of what was already there and is now being brought to the forefront.

With Love,

LayTonia
